Type Gang animation
Type Gang started with a hand-drawn cartouche — an ornamental frame traditionally used to enclose a name or inscription. I wanted to explore how my hand-lettering could take on a life of its own through animation.
CARTOUCHE PREP
I drew the letters and flourishes by hand, then digitised the artwork in Illustrator, bringing the final vectors into After Effects to animate the outlines with background lighting. Finally, the design was mocked up on a tote bag to see how it might work as a physical product.

A playful lettering experiment that took my original drawing from paper to screen and into a product mockup. It was a chance to explore the possibilities of combining hand-lettering, digital design and motion.
