Cooee
CONCEPT
Cooee (verb): an exclamation used to attract attention, especially at a distance. "‘Cooee! Dinner’s on the table!"
The design started as part of a good vibes greeting project where I was looking to bring together several elements as an animation. The lettering, a tagline, and a fun emoji started to take shape but it was looking quite busy. I quite how the letters were looking so decided to focus on developing those further.
PROCESS
The curves of the o’s and e’s started to look like little faces cheekily laughing at each other and, with the addition of some eye balls and a giggling soundtrack, the animation started to take shape in in After Effects.
Multiple layers moving individually and together made it look like two sets of eyes peering, looking away, then the e’s let out a giggle and hoot. Exported as a GIF, I used it on my Home page to say hello and Cooee.
